What is the best way to take care of a Scindapsus?
The (Epipremnum) Scindapsus is native to Southeast Asia. The plant comes in many different shapes and sizes. It is a plant that is easy to cut and maintain.
nLocation
The Scindapsus is not that difficult when it comes to positioning. Positioned directly in the south-facing window and more than four meters from a north-facing window is not recommended. In principle, the spotted/variegated Scindapsus will be more variegated depending on the amount of light you receive and less variegated if you place it further away from a window.
nHumidity
A Scindapsus can cope well with an ‘average’ humidity in the house. Spraying is not necessary, but it will benefit the plant by preventing a layer of dust from forming on the leaves and helping to prevent pests.
nWatering need
The soil of the Scindapsus may dry out slightly/briefly between waterings. If you wait a little longer before watering the plant, this is no problem. Keep in mind that the soil of the plant does not stay dry too often, too long.
nRepotting
Despite the fact that the vines of the Scindapsus grow relatively fast, the plant does not need a new pot very often. We recommend checking the Scindapsus every 2 to 3 years to see if it needs a new pot. You can also do this immediately after purchasing in the store.
nTemperature
Every plant has different wishes when it comes to ambient temperature. The desired minimum temperature of the Scindapsus is;
n16 degrees Celsius during the day
n12 degrees Celsius at night
If it gets colder outside, try to keep the temperature inside as constant as possible and keep the plants away from drafty windows. In addition to causing cold currents, it also increases the risk of pests.
